Give Thanks...

As the holidays are upon us, its so important to take a step back and give thanks to everything you have in your life. I am very grateful to have such a great family and friends. On Thanksgiving I went to my grandmother's house and we had a great thanksgiving meal. Although i was a little disappointed that it was only my mom, dad, sister and my nephew colin who i love and adore so much that showed up for the feast. None of my cousins, uncles, or aunts were able to make it this year. I know I haven't always spent the most time with my grandparents but i was a little upset they didn't come. I am very blessed to have grandparents that are so great. My grandmother has always been a little hard on me which I see where my mom gets it from, but she has always been fair though and I love her for that eventhough I don't always show it sometimes. After the lunch though we all got some time to watch my nephew colin be himself and he really came out of his shell that afternoon. I truly cherish all the time I have with him. We played together in the leaves in grandma's yard and he had such a ball with it. I am sure my sister will be posting lots of pictures of him through the holidays. As the day was closing me and my mom headed back home and we were talking about christmas gifts and what everyone was going to get and as I was reading through my dad's list, one thing really opened my eyes. On his list he wrote something that touched me, he wanted more time with his children and grandchild. It really hit me hard for some reason reading that and made me think. We should all step back and really focus on what are priorties are. Family should ALWAYS come first and make sure you spend as much time with them as you can because tomorrow is never guaranteed. Live for the day at hand. You are always going to face difficult situations in life but you can always count on your family to pull you through those times. Give thanks for everything you have in your life! I know I am.

Office Politics

It's been awhile since i have posted anything, but i haven't really had anything to talk about lately but this topic has been intriguing me lately. Since i have been working in corporate america the past 2 1/2 years i have noticed that no matter what you do, management is going to find some way to screw you over in more ways then one. Obviously this year has not been a good one for my company due to economy issues as much as they want to say thats not an excuse, well let's face the facts, when EVERY customer of yours is NOT shipping, what can you do? Well the management answer is "Why haven't we had business to replace the down ones?" Well let's look at that question, if we had business to replace it, then we would be up this year and it wouldn't matter about the current customers that are down. If everyone is this country is Cutting jobs, then obviously they aren't going to be producing much and in return they won't have anything to ship. Its a vicious cycle. Why can't they just face the facts and realize the ECONOMY SUCKS!!! No instead they think there is something internal we can do, like analyze EVERY single productivity number you can possibly imagine and figure out where we can move people around to make things better and since your move your numbers are going to be down till you get adjusted to your new area which takes a good 3 months to settle in, and then oh wait "they well we think you will be a better fit with this area," but don't worry you will be taken care of at the end of year. So now the end of the year comes and they (management) finally faces the fact and see's are numbers are even worse and will try and still pay there employees. So what do they do, they give you stock instead of your bonus which doesn't vest for 5 years and then you can touch the shares till 2 years after that so that's 7 years you won't even see that money. OH and then if you leave the company during this period or get fired, your stock is forfeited. What kind of crock of BS is that? Which is basically saying to me "we don't have the money so here is an IOU that will pay you in 7 years" Which if i remember a couple months ago is what took down the financial sector because everyone bought stuff on credit and the trust that they would pay them back. I swear it never surprises me....well i guess that's it for now,

God Bless

My Costume

Ok so if you don't me too well, I love to play golf and would love to pursue my dream someday of playing on the PGA Tour, but in honor for my love of the game I thought this year I would pay my dues and dress up like a golfer back in the early years with the knickers and sweater vests. Although i didn't go all out with the argyle sweater and everything but i thought this was pretty good for throwing something together at the last minute. My Mom came through with cutting off some old pants of mine and making knickers out of them. She is so wonderful to stay up late last night and put this together for me, of course I never give her much heads up on my projects, but hopefully I can get better at this, but she is always there to help and I love her for that!

Fun in the Office

Yesterday our Boss Mo as we call him, annouced today was College shirt/Costume day since its also Halloween today. We had some great turnouts in the office this morning. The Midwest Zone was Super Mario brothers with Mario & Lugi. The Southeast zone is going Jamaican with the fake dreadlocks. I think they represent the Jamaican Bobsled Team from the movie Cool Runnings. Husk looks just like Coach Blitzer (John Candy) when he is wearing the little beanie on his head at the end of the race. The LTL zone is all dressed like black cats.

And the Winner is International with the greatest costume of all, MO's Twin Brother!!!
Andy is on the left with MO on the right if you can't tell....and yes, Andy is not a Bald guy.

What a GAME!!!!

Last night was a the final game of the Fall 2008 Season for the SNOWFLAKES, yes I said the Snowflakes. The Snowflake is the logo for my company C.H. Robinson Worldwide. A select few individuals play in a softball league on thursday evenings. Last night was a game for the books. We went into the game in 2nd place with a record of 5-2. We played the Hidden Lakers which were currently in 3rd place so we had to get a "W" to lock up 2nd place.

We decided to go with a different line up then normal since it was our last game and we quickly found that this was not a good decision. Chad has been banned from pitching ever again, CJ is not allowed in the outfield again and I am not a 3rd basemen (normally play left field). After a very rocky start and giving up 11 runs in the first inning we dug a hole that would be tough to get out of.

After 2 solid innings and David Craig coming out of Retirement and hitting a clutch 2 out shot scoring 2 RBI's we tied the ball game up at 13-13 after the top of the 4th. After Another solid defense in the bottom of the 4th inning, we had a chance to take the lead in the top of the 5th and we came through scoring 7 runs to make the game 20-13. we got a little shaky and let them score 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to make the score 20-15.

There was 1 minute left on the clock so we had to start another inning since we were visitors and we had a chance to put the nail in the coffin with more runs, but we went 3 up and 3 down so the Hidden lakers had there shot to get back in the game in the bottom of the 6th. 3 outs and 2nd place was in the bag. Noble pitched a great inning in the 6th and finished it off by catching a line driver right back at him to end the game!! It was one for the books....

BBRRRR!!!!

Ok so after Joey's slaughter of the fish bet, I was inspired to get back in the ring with competition's in the office. I have been waiting to take on somone in art of Ice Cream eating. I took on a previous employee that worked for us when i first started with this company about 2 years ago when then I could eat any amount of food in one sitting, naturally still a growing boy.

The first competition was Half a gallon of Blue Bell Ice Cream and my opponent Travis had to eat Vanilla and I was stuck with Chocolate, believe me i don't recommend this flavor. Well to make the story short, I was completely dominating him and then hit the brick wall and had to tap out, believe me I was very dissapointed in my performance.

So Yesterday, my redemption match was upon us and had to take on none other then the Husk master head to head, vanilla vs. vanilla ice cream. The competition started smooth and was out in front very quickly, but the sprint to the finish was my downfall and had to tap out again after the quick start. I thought i could redeem myself, but i quickly found out that you can't do things you use to do when you were younger....lesson learned!
